What happens in an economy when you have computers replacing lower class jobs?

What happens when the blue collar industry is no longer needed and those who are the elite who are doing the intellectual work working on new scientific technologies and we want to explore the stars and there is no need for the lower class because employers no longer need to employ the working class? What happens to those who are not geniuses and those who can't succeed in school?
