I want to do cross country, but I am a TERRIBLE runner.?
I suggest that you don't quit something you worked hard for because what's the whole point of it then in the end. If you're really serious about a sport, or something your doing, make sure your positive you'll give full effort, you'll be motivated, and you won't quit and won't give up in the end. If you really want to run, make sure its something you really want to do and plan on making a commitment and sticking to it. But that's not all, you have to eat right, cut the junk food off, drink a lot of water. Work out regularly, mostly everyday running because you want to do cross country. I've met cross country runners and they take it really seriously, their supper fast, and very fit with nice toned, lean bodies. But you can build yourself up on that. Just don't give up, stay positive. If you can hire a trainer and drink protein shakes, just focus on making yourself faster and stronger. =]
