Ways to Get Started in the Animation Field?

Hi I'm 15 and I'm already extremely interested in becoming an animator. My skills are very good, but my knowledge of the field is lacking. I don't know much about the software used to animate either. I guess I'm asking where I can start, and what steps I should be making to succeed in this industry.
