Can I connect plumbing fittings like this?

I need to connect a 90 degree flexible rubber joint from a 2" steel pipe to a 1-1/2" abs fitting. I notice that the 2" to 2" flexible joint fits perfectly to the outside of the abs fitting. Can I fit the pipes like that? Otherise I need more adapters or a 2" to 1-1/2" flexible 90 degree joint, which they may not make. Room is scarce to none at all.
