Is Sales a skill that can be learned?

I recently got laid off and I'm looking for a career change. Seeing job postings there's a lot of sales positions where Sales Reps can make quite a bit of money. I never saw myself as a salesman but was wondering if other people who felt the same way went into sales and succeeded?
